I recently headed to the Shady Wagon Farm wedding venue with Jen and Zack to capture their engagement photos. Jen is a city girl from Los Angeles and Zack is a country boy at heart. One thing that they share without a doubt is their love for the outdoors. At their request to “do something in nature” we explored some roads less traveled on our way to and from the venue. Robert Frost would be proud!
I love Jen and Zack’s easy going laugh and their wonderful sense of humor. Their wedding is set for 10-01-11 at Castle Ladyhawke. I have a good feeling about this one and look forward to meeting their family and friends. Something tells me that I’m going to come back with some one of a kind photos of the bridal party. Congratulations to both of you!

We discovered some beautiful purple wisteria at this location.

I discovered that climbing the vines of a tree 20 foot up isn’t as easy as it used to be. I felt like I was in a movie set for Jack and The Beanstalk.

Zack had mentioned that he thought this one looked like a country album cover.

He also spotted a tree frog at one point. That boy has some eagle eyes for detail and continued to point things out during the session.

They got a bit too close to the fountain… Foreshadowing for sure!

I really like how they look here.

This was the photo right before Jen yelled “We’re coming in hot and heavy Craig!” as they careened toward the bank…

… and proceeded to tip the canoe over! I know this isn’t the best photo of them (Sorry Jen!) but SERIOUSLY… nobody falls out of a canoe gracefully… except maybe Tyra Banks… and she would probably call it “smalling” (falling with a smile)

BUT… Jen somehow managed to escape with her hair intact so that we could keep shooting. Amazing!

I found this sign right after and thought it was quite appropriate.

The Shady Wagon Farm has a bathtub on the property so we ended our session there and headed to the city before sunset.

I had discovered that Zack has been in the Navy for many years and wanted to do something tasteful with an American flag but didn’t have one. Luckily we stumbled on this one and I thought it worked out quite well.
