Kathryn and Andrew dubbed their wedding in downtown Raleigh as a “Southern Intimate Affair.” As I photographed their ceremony at Longview Center and their reception at Cobblestone Hall I couldn’t help but think to myself that this was a perfect execution in which city meets country. You wouldn’t think that bridemaids in cowboy boots would mesh with a modern high energy band like The Design but I can assure you that this couple made perfect choices to compliment their theme. I really enjoy it when this happens because it heightens my creativity adds diversity to the final wedding album. There are photos in here that will make you cry and some that are those OMG shots!
I’m trying to restrain myself from continuing to gush here, but I also fell in LOVE with their yellow and grey color scheme. I honestly think that it was what tied it all together visually. I even joked at one point as we got on the trolley, “I can’t believe you guys got the city to paint the roads in your color scheme!” :)
Even though I was intitially excited about all of these wedding details, it was Kathryn and Andrew’s relationship and personality that struck a deep chord with me. They are the type of couple that lights up a room when they enter and made every effort to help me feel like a guest and not just a wedding vendor. I can’t describe how good it is to be appreciated in such a warm way.
There’s no denying that they are comfortable in front of the camera and are a beautifully cute couple when they’re together, but it’s ultimately there hearts that shine brightest. As Kathryn’s father walked her down the aisle, as they exchanged vows, and as they shouted for joy at the conclusion of their wedding ceremony there were golden beams of light that shown down on them through the church windows. I can’t think of a visual parallel more descriptive of such a wonderful pair.
All the guys wore yellow and grey argyle socks.
The couple exchanged gifts without seeing each other…
… and you can imagine Kathryn’s surprise when she was presented with a HOUSE!
The aforementioned golden light shining through the windows at Longview Center church.
I LOVE this moment!
Reverend Barbara Lodge is an absolute pleasure to work with. One of my favorite officiants in the area!
The couple pose on the Raleigh Trolley for a romantic sun soaked kiss.
How lucky were we to find to this farm equipment right in the city?
The band “The Design” kept the dance floor packed all night.
Best wedding photobomb ever by the groom…
Since the groom used to play football we hatched an idea to have his brother hike it to him a ball with the garter wrapped around it.
This photograph is probably one of my favorites from this year!
