If you’re looking for a unique event venue or facility rental in the South End of Boston the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology is a hidden jewel to be found. I was recently invited to see this location first hand and to help spread awareness to those that may not have heard of it yet. The main ballroom and auditorium is a miniature replica of Symphony Hall and offers a stately backdrop for a diverse number of events such as performances, lectures, weddings, meetings, holiday parties, and fundraisers.
Other notable features of the college are the historic lobby which is adorned with marble floors and several murals by Charles Mills, circa 1910 and a breezeway leading to a few outdoor entertaining spaces. I personally love the large iron gates that connect the hallways to the expansive rooms.
The college owes it’s existence to Dr. Benjamin Franklin who funded it’s inception in his will in 1789 “for the benefit of young tradesman in Boston.” With over eight thousand square feet of indoor areas and five thousand square feet of outdoor space it’s an appealing choice for anyone looking for a unique and historic backdrop to their next event.
Please reach out to Carole Andreotti or Jamie Doerrbecker for more information and a private tour of this South End special events venue. You can also experience it for yourself at this year’s 10th Annual SoWa Holiday Market on Dec 14th and 15th.
