I joined a stunning couple for their wedding photography portraits at The Berry Hill Resort and Conference Center. It’s a historic plantation located in South Boston, Virginia that hosts special events as well as wedding ceremonies and receptions. It was my first time photographing there and I wasn’t sure what to expect.
We planned on arriving close to sunset and I’m so glad we did! The entire estate was more than I could have hoped for and provided perfect landscape backdrops. The best part of the entire experience for me was the fact that I was able to really get to know Kelly and Leland on the car ride there and back.
Leland specializes in dental procedures and endodontics and utilizes his talents in the Army. Kelly is a dance instructor and is currently teaching her students in Augusta, GA. They are both huge Lakers fans (well… Kelly is by association) and we shared a lot in common as far as our “taste” in movies and food.

Gigantic columns adorn the front of the main house at Berry Hill.
A lengthy gravel path leads up to the front door and was perfect for a wedding portrait.
These brick walls reminded me of Ireland. I positioned the couple in a place where the wall was being taken over by a large tree.
Kelly’s sunflower bouquet was a perfect compliment to the lush surroundings.
Kelly’s beautiful eyes really popped in this bridal portrait.

The groom carrying his bride over the threshold… Something tells me that the house is a little drafty though. :)
I really like how this photograph turned out. I like the composition as well as the fact that it looks somewhat like a picture frame hanging on a wall.
We threaded the wedding rings on to a barb wire fence.

This is absolutely beautiful. I visit the Berry Hill Resort very often during the summer wedding season and have witnessed many weddings on the property. Very beautiful atmosphere, jaw dropping photos! Very lovely couple
