She’s a marketing guru originally from Charlotte and he’s an authentic Baton Rouge, LA transplant turned CPA from NC State. Somehow they found each other at a wine bar over a Thanksgiving Holiday one year and hit it off. Since Kyle was in Baltimore at the time and Adrian was in Charlotte, they weren’t sure if anything serious would come of it. They started dating long distance for 10 months before Kyle decided to move to Charlotte.
After 2 years of dating, he proposed to her in Charleston, SC. Adrian told me it was a total surprise. They were at a bed and breakfast that backed into a large mansion and Kyle snuck away to ask the home’s owners if they would leave their back gate unlocked so he could propose to her in their gardens. It worked you crafty man!
As with many couples they love to travel and go hiking with their dog. They can proudly proclaim that they’ve been to almost every park/nature preserve in the Charlotte area. Their pooch is a 7 yr old Keeshond mix that was rescued and adopted from Operation Care in Charlotte and they love her truely madly deeply… They also LOVE to go to concerts, mostly indie-rock bands like Radiohead, Ryan Adams, Wilco, Old 97s, Son Volt, Band of Horses, and My Morning Jacket. Kyle even had his bachelor party in New Orleans to go to the Jazz and Heritage Festival. I bet he has some great photos!
I was honored to photograph their ceremony at All Saints Chapel in downtown Raleigh and their reception at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Both of these venues are absolutely awesome. Sarah (the coordinator) is an absolute sweetheart! The quaint warm non-traditional feel of All Saints is perfect for a moderate sized wedding and the expansive “compartment style” feel of the museum was perfect. It was really nice to be able to move to a whole new room for each portion of the evening.
I have to give a special shout out to all these amazing vendors that made the day so great…
- Alissa Phillips. Not only does she style on my wife’s hair but she is a rockstar in the world of The Knot and works at Lather Hair Salon. I must say that she did an awesome job. Adrian looked naturally beautiful!
- Robin Renteria was the officiant. She was also at Leah and Mike’s wedding. I love the fact that she delivers her words with a smiles or conviction that reflect the mood of the moment.
-The band did an amazing job as well and I’ll pass on their info as well as soon as I find their card. :)
Adrian and Kyle and their friends and family were aesome throughout the day and were up for almost anything. They were a great group to be around and I had a lot of fun at this event… Do you have any interest in seeing the photos? I thought you might…

That is an expression that every bride knows but no bride can fake!

A nice portrait of Robin Renteria and the happy couple

Let’s play “Where’s Adrian and Kyle!”

This was my favorite shot of the day. The flower girl was mimicking Adrian in the background with her dress… It was a one of a kind moment.

This is a little different than my traditional style but I thought the idea, composition, and mood worked quite well… It turned out exactly how I wanted.

I could easily see this being picked up by a magazine. It’s such a fun playful moment!

They used my photograph from their engagement session for their table placecards.

I really like all the layers in this photo from the parents dance.

Please don’t ask… I HAD to post this though! It was one of those moments I could have never planned…
